Colton, CA—Colton is in it to win it.

Tonight, the Lady Yellowjackets soccer team, who finished their regular season as the number 2 seed in the San Andreas League, squared off against number 3 Summit High. They wasted no time putting the SkyHawks away, winning the match 4-1.

From the opening kick, Colton was sharp. Anna Bailey scored the first of her two goals 45 seconds in on a quick attack, putting Summit on their heels.

Summit would even the score at the 13-minute mark, but that’s all Colton would give.

Senior Diana Fernandez put in the Yellowjackets’ second goal with four minutes remaining in the first half after shots by Bailey and Laura Yanez ricocheted off the Summit goalpost.

The second half was all Colton. Yanez stayed aggressive, attacking the net and keeping the pressure on Summit’s goalkeeper. Then at 25 minutes in the second half, Melanie Bravo scored on an assist from Bailey.

Bravo returned the favor a few minutes later, assisting Bailey on her second, and the team’s fourth goal of the game.

This win places Colton in the San Andreas League championship match on Thursday evening against San Gorgonio High School.
