The Yellowjackets offense couldn’t find answers against the Wildcats defense in their 13-2 loss.

Colton, CA—With an unexpected rain threatening to postpone the game yet again, Yellowjackets baseball took to their home field on Monday against Redlands East Valley. Dark clouds weren’t the only things bringing rain, however, as the Wildcats bats poured in runs in the 13-2 defeat.

This is Colton’s first loss of the season, their record now at 4-1-1.

Redlands East Valley is currently ranked no. 19 in CIF Southern Section division 3. Colton is currently ranked no. 38 in division 6.

The Yellowjackets offense struggled to get anything going all game, being held scoreless through the first three innings, only reaching base on two walks and when James Ruiz was hit by a pitch.

By then, the Wildcats had already amassed an 8-0 lead, headlined by a two home run third inning. Home runs were hit by Dillon Smalls and Arthur Chavez.

Colton fought back with two runs in the fourth inning as Aiden Segura and Roman Torrero were brought home on RBI singles by James Ruiz and Isaac Padilla.

The game ended after the sixth inning.

Opening pitch was thrown out by School Resource Office Nilda Campos.

Today, the Yellowjackets will take on Vista Del Lago at home. Game time is 3 p.m.
