On August 25, 2020, there have been numerous reports on Lionel Messi asking to leave FC Barcelona. Which was a big shock to not only his huge fan base, but all FC Barcelona fans. Why it was so shocking is because he had been playing for Barcelona for over 16 years, starting in October 2004. Before making his debut for the Spanish Club at age 17, he moved to Spain just to play for Barcelona at age 13.

By most he is considered to be the greatest soccer player of all time. With him creating a record of winning six Ballon d’or awards, six European Golden Shoes, and 33 trophies for the Barcelona Club. He had also earned titles for 10 La Liga, 6 Copas Del Rey, and 4 UEFA Champions League. He had also set a lot more records, making him considered as possibly the best soccer player in the world.

With fans left devastated, heartbroken, and angry, according to the Barca Blaugranes website, a group of fans had forced themselves in Barcelona’s Stadium “Camp Nou”, protesting about Messi questioning his stay. And on September 1st according to the ESPN website, it has been confirmed Ivan Rakitic has left FC Barcelona for Sevilla. It won’t be surprising if anymore players from the club will leave and will be replaced with new players. If Messi leaves, the team will never be the same without their team captain, and will surely be different than how it was before. Messi will be missed if he goes, but we should respect whatever decision he makes.
