The unstoppable Chicago Cubs are representing the National League in the World Series for the first time since 1945. 71 years had passed since the Cubbies lost their lead to the Detroit Tigers 3-4. The last World Series game in the franchise’s history at the World Series was played at Wrigley Field.

The winning streak was quite exciting for cub fans in the 2016 season. They installed hope and confidence in baseball fans across the country so they could pursue the victory once again. Before the 2016 season, however, the team, along with every fan and the coaching staff, endured the hardship of maintaining a consistently winning team.

Jaws dropped as these past few games have been played when the Cubs closed out several wins. Contrarily to the early days when Chicago’s history is consisted of mainly losing and playoff heartache.  Since 1910, they have been to the World Series in ’18, ’29, ’32, ’35, ’38 and ’45. Even people who weren’t fans were ecstatic beyond words and belief.

The reputation and respect they earned this year has not only changed records but people’s perspectives. It wasn’t just about constantly losing in the past  however when statistics bring that label upon people, however it’s hard for opposing fans to not relive it to watch Cubs fan be miserable.
