On Friday, April 8, Colton track and field went head to head with their rival school, Grand Terrace.  Colton had a good run but Grand Terrace left Colton in their dust.

Before the meet I interviewed track coach Valerie Holmes to get her thoughts on her team. “I  don’t feel confident about this meet because Grand Terrace has a bigger team than we do which gives them advantage but we have a strong hearted team and I think they will do great,” she said, adding,  “it’s not an individual sport– it’s a team thing.”

The key players Homes was counting on were Traint Johnson in sprints, Dominic Barbon in distance, Chris Flores for long jumps, triple jumps (he is also part of the relay team), Gabriel Peralta in throws, and Edwin Burber for sprints.

In 400 meters Tyler Valles came in 3rd place with a time of 55:53 minutes.  For the 1600 meters Dominick Barbon with the of 4:37 minutes for 2nd place.  3200 meters Dominick Barbon comes in at 2nd place in a time of 10:51.  110m hurdles Ayjay Porter finished in 2nd place with a time of 17:51, he also came in 3rd for the 300m hurdles with a time of 43:19.  4×100 relay team Tyler Valles finished with a time of 46:72.
