Lakers: another year, another blahhhh

Manuel Solorzano, Reporter

As basketball season falls on Los Angeles, it seems that this season looks promising for L.A. That is, of course, if you’re talking about the Clippers. This is because the Los Angeles Lakers have had a very pitiful start this year. It has been called by some as a type of rebuilding year where new, young stars are joining the fold. The team was seemingly rebuilt around returning star Kobe Bryant. While it’s safe to say Kobe still has that it factor about him, it is obvious that the rest of the team is not quite there yet.

After losing their season opener to the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-111, in which they looked to have a good future in the horizons, the team has gone to a 2-9 record in their efforts. The only wins they have had this season have come at the hand of the Pistons and the Nets. Now, one could argue that this season is meant to be a new beginning with young stars. But, it has been this way for a couple of years now. The last season, in which the Lakers earned their worst record in history at 21-61 record. Now, the Laker seem to be going in that direction again. It seems that the new blood in the team have just not performed up to par. The Lakers are a team ripped with new stars for the future, but seem to rely heavily on past glory players. This is of course, Kobe Bryant, who has just started his 20th season this year. At the age of 37, the Lakers do not have much time with the 5 time NBA champion, and they must learn to build new stars or else this will be another record breaking season, for the wrong reasons.
