Natural disaster’s effects being called into question

Lately if you’ve been paying attention you’ll notice natural disasters are getting worse and worse. It seems as if lately they’ve been happening more often as well. First off, let’s look into some theories and opinions about these disasters.

According to LiveScience.com, “Scientists believe the increase in hydro-meteorological disasters is due to a combination of natural and made-made factors. Global warming is increasing the temperatures of the Earth’s oceans and atmosphere, leading to more intense storms of all types, including hurricanes.” A lot of wildfires and polluted air is coming from us and it needs to stop.

Another theory people have, which is kind of a stretch, is the government is doing this for population control. People say that these natural disasters are a good way to get rid of overpopulation. The theory is that government is allegedly using machines and tactics to slowly kill off any overpopulation in the country. On a more serious level if these rumors were true it would be a total nightmare.

An article by fairus.com states, “The United States is already overpopulated in the sense that we are consuming our national ecological resources at an unsustainable rate. Our growing dependence on foreign energy supplies is a prime example. We now depend on foreign imports for 28.8 percent of our energy consumption: two-thirds of our petroleum products and about one-sixth of our natural gas consumption.

So the big question is: are natural disasters getting worse? We as humans are destroying our world little by little and most people look past it; not realizing that littering and throwing cigarettes on the ground destroys our ecosystem. Keeping our planet safe is important for future generations.
