“Greek Week” is packed with activities and events leading up to Friday’s rivalry matchup against Grand Terrace High

Homecoming Week is packed with activities and ceremony. Find the details here.

The time has come and it is Homecoming week! ASB wants you to get your Greek on.

There are a number of activities and events going on all week. Here is a rundown of everything you need to know.

Clothing Themes

As with all spirit weeks, each day has a different clothing theme.

Monday, October 25, will be “Medusa Monday.” Students are invited to wear glasses or just any kind of grey shirt in honor of the Gorgon Medusa, with whom eye contact was so deadly, a single look could turn a person to stone.

On Tuesday, October 26, students are sporting their class colors as “Ethereal Entities:” seniors in blue, juniors in purple, sophomores in red, and freshmen in white.

Wednesday, October 27, everyone will be living “in the cloud,” as they come to school in their most comfortable clothing.

On Thursday, October 28, CHS is celebrating Halloween early with “Hallows Eve.” The only limitations are student imagination . . . and dress code.

For the big Homecoming day on Friday, October 29, CHS will be Blacked Out. Students should wear their “HOCO Rival” t-shirts or Black for the lunchtime pep rally and that night’s game against Grand Terrace High.

Activities

On Tuesday after school, varsity volleyball is taking the court versus Colton High alumni at the Hubbs Gym. Game time is 5:00 p.m.

Thursday night, the Powderpuff Championship game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. under the lights of Memorial Stadium. There is no charge for admission, however concessions will be available.

During lunchtime on Friday, ASB is hosting its annual Homecoming Pep Rally for the rivalry game. The event will happen out on the basketball courts behind the MacIntosh Gym, where students will play games and celebrate their class and school spirit.

At 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the annual CHS Homecoming Parade kicks off after a year’s hiatus. The parade route starts at Colton Middle School and travels southbound on Rancho Avenue. Police will shut down Rancho Avenue between Laurel Avenue and Valley Boulevard starting at 4:30 p.m.

Girls’ basketball is holding a tailgate event at the Hubbs gym before the Homecoming game. Tickets are $5.

The Homecoming game also marks Senior Night for football, cheer, and band. The seniors will be celebrated starting at 6:15pm in Memorial Stadium. Tickets must be purchased to attend the event.

At 7:00 p.m., the Yellowjackets kick off their Homecoming rivalry match against the Grand Terrace Titans.

Halftime is all about the Homecoming Court. Once the teams clear the field, the Homecoming Court will be announced, and the Homecoming King and Queen will be unveiled. Students start voting on the King and Queen on Tuesday.

Homecoming Dance

The Homecoming Dance will be held outside in front of the Multi-Purpose Room from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30. Students will enter the dance through the staff parking lot on 3rd Street. ID badges and tickets are required for entrance.

Since the dance will be held outside, students are reminded to dress appropriately.
