The first Colton High building, constructed in 1904, was located just north of “I” Street (now known as Valley Boulevard) and east of 2nd Street. It stands roughly where the current cafeteria building is.

Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

In 1905, one year after the construction of Colton High’s first building—which was built near where the old cafeteria currently stands—a grandstand was built for outdoor sporting events.

The grandstand featured a bicycle shed underneath the bleachers as well as a stable for those who rode horses to school.
