Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history. 

On January 23, 1953, Norma Holcombe was 13 years old when she was became the undisputed youngest student to attend Colton High School. 

At the time, she had recently moved to Colton after living in Amarillo, Texas where she went to grammar school.

Norma’s hobbies were collecting photos of movie stars and swimming in the summer. She enjoyed her time at Colton High reading and doing English work.

She thought Colton High was a very nice school, but needed more dances. 

Norma’s favorite comedians were Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, while her favorite recording artist was Eddie Fisher, whom she listened to in her spare time.
