Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

Due to an election held on January 19, 1921, the communities of Colton, Agua Mansa, San Salvador, Washington, Grand Terrace, and Bloomington were merged, forming the Colton Union High School District. That same year, a bond measure was passed, calling for $220,000 to be used to build a new high school building. Colton was determined to receive the building.
