A 23-year-old man from Japan has been arrested for selling hacked shiny pokemon from the game Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

For those who don’t know shiny pokemon are pokemon that were first introduced in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. These are extremely rare pokemon with the chances of seeing one in the wild being 1 in 8192 and breeding from an egg being 1 in 682. They’re extremely popular among players with the only difference between their normal counterparts is that shiny pokemon are a different color from regular pokemon.

The man was first reported to by police when he sold a hacked shiny Sobble for about 4,400 yen, which is around $41, in April. In total the man made up to 1.15 million yen, around $11,000 by selling the shiny pokemon to people according to Japanese police. The man was arrested for violating Japan’s Unfair Competition Protection Law which makes altering save data along with selling that data to people illegal.

For now it is unknown what the man will be punished with.
