Mentone, CA—Local rock band Sugar Rush, fronted by Colton High School English teacher Lucy Leyva, rocked a sold-out Mill Creek Cattle Company in Mentone on Saturday night. The lively event marked the first performance by the band since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The band’s set was comprised of pop and rock hits from the last four decades, including songs by classic rock stalwarts Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Pat Benatar, No Doubt, and more. The Mill Creek audience, inspired by the band’s boundless energy, danced and sang along all evening. Floating about the crowd with her wireless microphone, Ms. Leyva worked the room with her charm and charisma as she belted out the tunes.

“I had such an incredible night,” Leyva said with a huge smile. “My first gig in over a year and it went down so amazing!”
