Late legendary American poet, Jim Morrison has left us with beautiful music that has changed the way we listen to rock and roll forever. Morrison left this world at a young age of twenty-seven. He left this world with more than just lyrics in a song; he left poems in every work of art he sang.
Morrison is widely known as the outrageous lead singer of The Doors. The band got its name from Morrison’s favorite poem by William Blake. ‘’If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.’’ He took the idea of ‘’the doors’’ being the doors of our minds and which that open with drugs. The doors of perception were open when the band was formed on July 1965.
Morrison lived his life around drugs and alcohol. Destroying his body over the years, he finally gave out on July 3rd 1971. The world lost an iconic performer. One of many to be heartbroken was his longtime girlfriend Pamela Courson. She was in Jim’s life before the fame and was there the day he died. Morrison had many women in his time, mostly fans. He even participated in a ceremony with Patricia Kennealy (rock critic) which wedded them. Over all the many girls Jim had been with and the rocky relationship with Courson, she was there for him in the end.
He was arrested four times during his years of fame, including charges of public drunkenness and even indecent exposure. Nonetheless, Jim lived his life like a true rock star and ended being remembered as a legend.
Creating amazing music till the day he died, Morrison still has his music rocking the world to this day. Many listen to The Doors for their Psychedelic rock or for Morrison’s intense poetry. Whichever reason you choose to listen to the true art of The Doors, there is no doubt you’re going to hear his deep voice and unpredictable yells.
