Elias Velasquez gets his opponent from Fontana to submit during their match on Jan. 10.

Colton, CA—On Jan. 10 both varsity boys and girls wrestling teams won their league match against Fontana High School. The boys won by a score of 61-12, and the girls won 19-18.

This victory for the girls marks the first time in school history that our girls wrestling team has won a league match.

In front of a loud home crowd at the Mac Gym, all but two of the varsity boys won their matches.

Of note was Steven Ornelas victory, which fired up the crowd during the last match of the night. He scored on a big takedown of his opponent with just seconds on the clock that sealed the win.

For the varsity boys, this is their third win, and they are currently undefeated in league play. The next match will be on Wed., Jan 17 against Eisenhower here in the Mac Gym. JV starts at 5 p.m.
