Ontario, CA—Monday night, the Lady Yellowjackets won their seventh consecutive game, defeating Bloomington High 42-35 in a special game played on the Ontario Clippers’ court in the Toyota Arena.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Yellowjackets settled down and took control of the game. They took a double-digit lead before halftime, and Bloomington never got closer than seven.

Colton was led by Savannah Govea, who scored 12 points and had 7 steals. Off the bench, Zoey Espino provided the spark in the second quarter that put the Yellowjackets in the driver’s seat. She finished with 16 points. Contributions were felt all around, however, with Noemi Ontiveros scoring 5 and Olivia Torres adding 4.

The game was a home game for Bloomington, who set up the event at Toyota Arena through Playbook Sports, a company that works with schools to help them organize events and marketing. Despite the Bloomington home game, Colton fans traveled well and filled the stadium with cheers for the Yellowjackets.

With this victory, Colton is now 13-5 overall and 1-1 in Skyline League play. They travel to Rim of the World on Thursday for a league game.
