The Cross-Country crew prepares to board the bus before their Saturday morning meet at Glen Helen’s Inland Empire Challenge.

San Bernardino, CA—Glen Helen Park hosted the Inland Empire Challenge meet on Saturday morning, and Colton’s Cross-Country athletes made a strong showing on the three-mile course.

Four runners—Luis Garay, Sara Lopez, Jennifer Puga, and Vincent Solis—medaled at the event, placing in the top 40 in their race. Nearly every runner of the team, however, set a personal record at the event.

“I’m really proud of every athlete,” head coach Mateo Cisneros said. “It was cold Fall weather, but was perfect for our athletes.”

Standouts at the event include the medalists, but also junior Daniel Montes, who came in at 24:51, shaving nearly two minutes off his previous best, and sophomore Natalie Solis, who ran the track in 32:44, which marked a six minute improvement on her time at Swarm in early September.

Cross-Country season continues next Wednesday for their next Arrowhead Conference meet at Jerry Eaves Park.
