Colton, CA—With Powderpuff Football season set to begin on October 26, CHS ASB held a brief informational meeting today at the Mac Gym to recruit players for the girls-only teams.

The session, led by Ms. Alexandra Buskirk, ASB Director, focused on athletic clearance and the game and practice schedules.

Over 40 students attended this meeting, and the buzz afterward was palpable.

“It seems like it would be fun,” said CHS junior Maryssa Barajas. She has previous experience playing football in summer school, and is looking forward to the experience.

For others, Powderpuff had a more personal meaning. For junior Larissa Lopez, playing in Powderpuff was to set right the past. “My mom was in this and did not get to play,” she said. “I’m doing this for her.”

The Powderpuff season kicks off during both lunches on October 26, with the Powderpuff final set to take place under the prime time lights of Yellowjacket Stadium on October 28 at 7:00 pm.

“I’m looking forward to having all four teams and having the final game out on the football field,” Ms. Buskirk raved.

Practices will begin Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:45pm-3:30pm starting September 20.

Athletic clearances must be submitted to Ms. Buskirk in room 201 no later than September 20. Students who already have an athletic clearance should notify Ms. Buskirk immediately.

Students who need to get a physical can get a walk-in appointment at Fox Occupational Clinic in San Bernardino.
