The Lady Yellowjackets volleyball squad opened the 2021 season with a decisive 3-0 victory in a non-conference match-up against the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles at Hubbs Gym.

Coach Anthony Wade fired up the team before the game, telling them, “If you go with 100% confidence, you’re in it to win it!” The Lady Yellowjackets took this advice to heart and stung the Golden Eagles in three straight games, winning 25-7, 25-12, and 25-11.

Colton was led by Angelena Robledo with 8 serving aces. Elena Torrero added 3 more aces and led the team with 5 digs. MaxPrep sports named Robledo its “Player of the Match.

“The girls went out on the court and played in the moment and went point for point,” said Head Coach Sarah Vasquez.

Altogether, this was a dominant performance from the team, who hadn’t played in an official match in more than a year and a half. The team came out strong from the opening serve. Emotions ran high throughout the match, leading to their first victory of the regular season.

The Lady Yellowjackets square off against Desert Mirage High August 19 at 4:30pm.
