Softball star Cassandra Ramirez signs letter of intent with major college
November 10, 2016
From Colton Yellow Jacket to Eastern Michigan Eagle, Cassandra Ramirez, senior, has officially committed to being an Eagle.
Ramirez had been verbally committed for two years and accepted her full ride scholarship on November 9th.
She started her career at age 4 and knew at age 10 that she wanted to pursue softball as a career. Ramirez put in time everyday for at least an hour, to this day. Ramirez wants to thank her dad, Joe Ramirez, her pitching coach, Johnny Guillen, Mom, Debbie Ramirez, and former coach, Jose Martinez. She says it was stressful knowing her scholarship could be at risk if she had bad grades, but she is thankful for her teachers who understood what she was trying to achieve and helped along the way.
Ramirez especially wants to thank Roxanne Berch, Algebra II teacher; Michael Esquivel, for unconditional love and support; Linda Attaway, for being the best school mom; and Brian Pope, for making sure she was Division I eligible.
Ramirez will move into her new home September 2, 2017. She says, “I’m proud to be a Yellowjacket and extremely blessed to have been given this opportunity.”
