Lady Jacket Softball Lose in a Close Battle against the Cats

On April 6th, the varsity softball team went up against the Kaiser Cats, where they had lost 6-4 in a close game. Heading into the big game against Kaiser, 2nd baseman, Junior Alyssa Duenez, said, “I feel like this game will be a challenge because Kaiser is good team”. The current varsity softball team record stands at 1-3, looking to get back into things and give the home crowd a win.
In the 1st through 5th inning kaiser had a score of 4 and the LadyJackets a score of 4 also it was tied up, going back and forth stopping kaiser from scoring making good plays after good plays. Towards the end of the game going into the 10th inning the crowd off their seats the game is tense kaiser up to bat they hit the ball the yellowjackets stopping the Kaiser cats but doesn’t happen Kaiser scores two points in the 10th inning now its the the LadyJackets last ups they try to make a comeback but does not happen so the varsity yellowjackets end up with a lost on this one the score 6-4.
They had lost against Kaiser but it was a good game it went 10 innings and the score was 4-6. After the game Junior, Angelique Danovaro said. “ I thought we were gonna win because it was a close game and we were going back and forth but at the end they scored. We made a couple mistakes and it changed the game”. After the their performance on the field Danovaro also added,“I feel like if we kept on the good defense, I feel like we can do good against our next game”.
Head coach Michelle McDonnell added, “We approached the game against Kaiser the same way we’d approach any other game. We need to win each battle in order to win the war. We have to win every pitch, every at bat, every inning; if we can do that we’ll win games”. Mcdonnell also said, “Defensively we played a great game. However, if go back to our approach we didn’t win every at bat. We lost a lot of opportunities to win the battle at the plate”.
