Colton seniors give a football farewell

It was an intense Friday night, not only was it a game to see if Colton would make the playoffs, it was also a night for seniors.  Senior Jordan Ah Honi said, “I felt that I had to win this game because it would be my last home game here at my high school.”

The game started with Nick Garcia recovering a fumble at the Fontana 29 yard line. On the next play Jordan Ah Honi scored the first offensive touchdown.  Jordan then carried the ball a total of 129 yards to make it a 14-0 game. Jason Taylor scored on two straight drives, a 49 and 51 yard catch and a run from quarterback Richard Medina.

Colton’s defense only allowed Fontana 40 yards and one first down. The 40 yards of offense was gained on a roughing the kicker penalty against Colton.

In the first half Colton racked up 267 yards on offence.  By the end of the game the team had a total of 368 yards on offense.  Colton finished off Fontana 48-6 to put Colton in the playoffs.

Senior Adrian Ledesma said, “I’m glad that we won on our senior night and that we all played with our hearts and we came out on top.”

“I was excited, nervous and anxious to play”, said Senior Frankie Perez.  He also said, “Since it (the game) decided if we went to the playoffs, it felt like a mission complete.”

Congratulations to the Colton High Varsity Football team and all of the seniors for making it to the playoffs! Good luck!
