The 2011-2012 season for varsity baseball has started off with a record of 6-2-0 in the San Andreas League, recently passing up Rialto High School, who is one of Colton’s biggest rivals, with a record of 11-6. Colton’s varsity team this year is described to have potential and more importantly, confidence, when dealing with tough competition. With San Gorgonio being their other tougher rival, Colton put up a good fight, but unfortunately lost to them on Tuesday with a score of 1-0.
“We’ve had some rough moments, but I feel that we’re in a good position right now,” says senior Tyler Rich who is both a starting pitcher for the team, as well as a first baseman. Not to mention, Rich threw the first “no-hitter” of his high school career against San Bernardino High School two weeks ago. “I felt comfortable and felt like I had more control than I normally did. My defense played a big roll to make that possible, as well”.
The boys’ next game is Tuesday, April 24th against Carter who is 5-3-0 in league. Come support the Yellow Jackets as they attempt another victory!
