On Saturday November 1, 2014, the Vice President of the United States of America Joe Biden stopped at Colton High School to promote Pete Aguilar, mayor of Redlands, for congress in a Go Out To Vote rally. Joe Biden was welcomed by many politicians including: Sarah Zamora, mayor of Colton, Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown, D-San Bernardino, and finally, the Congress Candidate himself, Pete Aguilar of the Democratic Party.
Vice President Biden delivered a speech discussing the budget and fiscal situations that this country currently faces. Biden argued that Aguilar would be a good congressman, because he claims that Aguilar’s Republican opponent Paul Chabot “just didn’t get it” when proposing budget cuts.
But what it seems is the Vice President of our own country didn’t get it, for it seems that he did what all old men do, tell stories about growing up. Yeah, he said a word or two talking about why Aguilar would be good in congress, but I’m pretty sure there was a reason he was limited with his words on that topic. Because there aren’t many good reasons why Aguilar would be good in congress.
I went to the rally expecting to hear statistics and updates on the economic problems that we face and will most likely continue to face as long as we keep voting for democrats. But instead, I had to hear about how the Vice President grew up, lived with his grandfather, and how his father was denied a loan to get Biden into college. But if there is one thing I did learn from the vice president, it is… “that’s a bunch of malarkey”– much like his position as Vice President.
