On April 25, 2014 the world was shocked by the news that was released regarding the Los Angeles clippers owner Donald Sterling. It was a day that will change the Los Angeles clippers for history, when a recording of Donald Sterling reviled his true colors.
On that day TMZ released a recorded conversation with sterling and a female friend of his talking about a picture posted on Instagram. The picture was of the 31 year old female friend, V. Stiviano, posing with basketball legend Magic Johnson; it was this picture that released the racism inside Sterling, and which he responded by calling Ms. Stiviano with remarks and comments that shocked the basketball world.
Once this was released many people, not only the team, nor the team fans, the entire National Basketball Association, and even sponsors responded with wanting to prevent any connection to sterling as possible. Many did this by: with drawing sponsorships, flipping jerseys inside out, and even U.C.L.A. rejected a $3 million donation from Sterling.
So it must take putting your team up for sale and being banned from the NBA to show that there is no room for racism not only in basketball, or sports, but the world.
