Every morning students all across the country stand up, face the American flag, put their right hand over their hearts, and say the pledge of allegiance. Many kids are used to it and don’t mind doing it, but what about the kids who don’t want to do it? Maybe it goes against their religion or they are simply just too lazy to do it.
In some states it’s illegal to not say the pledge of allegiance, but in others, students are allowed to stay seated and not say it. Either way, not doing it is disrespectful, because thousands of U.S. soldiers have given their lives for our independence and freedom–not to mention all the great opportunities there is in this country for everyone. Refusing to participate in the pledge is like slapping all of our founding fathers and dedicated soldiers in the face.
Whether you don’t want to do it or it’s against your religion, we should all take the few seconds it takes to say the pledge of allegiance and honor the lives that have been given for our country and all of the rights both men and women have here. We all have liberty and we all are protected by the laws of justice which is mentioned in the pledge of allegiance.
