Over the course of time, music has become more and more a part of everyone’s everyday life. It is something that has the ability to transform your mood from sadness to anger, happiness to reminiscent, hopeful to completely doubtful. It truly all depends on who you are to what genre tickles your fancy–but what justice does it serve to think less of someone who prefers, let’s say, Arcade Fire to the cast of Glee? It doesn’t serve any at all.

We’re made to form our own opinions from birth, preferring some things to others. It is relatively unavoidable to hear negative comments on any subject. Our society has always been so, but it’s reached almost normality to say this and say that about anything humanly possible.  I have witnessed many people get terrorized for liking a certain artist firsthand, but who are they to criticize? They didn’t compose it.

Lots of people stick to one genre and claim it as “their music.” That is the genre that their life revolves around. Why, world? Why?! Life is far too short to do that to yourself. Expose your ears to what the world holds and has been holding for ages.

Being so critical on one thing you do not like is ultimately, an absolute waste of time that can be spent listening to something you do appreciate.  Music is music, man. Shut your face, sit back, and enjoy the tunes.

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
