Colton, CA—With the school year coming to an end it’s time to say goodbye to the class of 2025 as the sun sets on Colton High’s football field.
Senior Sunset is an annual event at Colton High where all the seniors get a chance to come together at the football field from 6-8pm where they get to make their final mark, signing yearbooks and taking pictures together.
This year’s Senior Sunset in particular wasn’t just special to all the seniors, but; it was even more special to Principal John Abbott as this year’s graduation will be his first graduating class of students that he’s been with for all four years.
Abbott said, “It’s bittersweet, being able to enjoy this time before they make that next big step into the next chapter.”
As the evening progressed various events were available for the seniors to enjoy such as a gaming truck, badminton and connect four along with agua frescas being sold to students.
As the sun began to fall, the time came for the Seniors to receive the letters they wrote back in August during Senior Sunrise. The letters written in August were meant so Seniors could look back on their past selves.
Senior Emily Prada said, “What stood out to me about my letters is that I wrote to myself that I hope I got accepted into all of my colleges which I did, except for one which was a little stretch, but it was nice to read a letter for myself where I wrote such positive things.
To finish off the evening, ASB passed out balloons to the Seniors so they could write heartfelt messages on them and release them all together into the sun’s orange glow as the night set.
