Colton, CA—On September 26, 2024, Renaissance hosted their annual awards ceremony for semester two recognition in the Whitmer Auditorium.
Awards were given out to Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students. The awards that were given out to students were: Top Ten for each class, passing AP tests with scores of 3-5, Principal’s Honor Roll, and Honor Roll.
President of the Board of Education for Colton Joint Unified Frank Ibarra gave a speech to the parents and students before the awards stating, “I want to congratulate and also pass on how proud we are of all our students. They get to the point where they’re achieving and they’re meeting the academic requirements in order for them to move forward in their lives,”.
Before the ceremony, everyone received raffle tickets, Activities Director Alexandra Buskirk announced the winners of the raffle during the middle of the ceremony where people received Colton merch.
Under three seats of the Whitmer Auditorium were Yellow Jacket stickers and if you were sitting on a seat that contained a sticker, you could also receive Colton Merch.
The ceremony was from 6:00-8:00pm, but despite being seemingly long, the length of the ceremony goes to show the success of the students with the amount of awards given out.
