Stock Piling Surges as COVID-19 Reaches Second Wave

Samantha Jimenez, Reporter

With the second wave of COVID-19 on its way, people have been reacting to it like they have for when COVID first came. In fact, a majority of Europe has already been back to lockdown already, so how are Americans dealing with this? Just like they did back in March, they stock piled.

In the past week or so, store shelves that once held; hand sanitizer, toilet paper, disinfecting wipes, and food are now bare. This has raised the concern for the safety of shoppers.

Food makers have been preparing for this as the makers of Cheerios and Annie’s Boxed Mac and Cheese have added 45 production lines. $40 million have been used to extend production on Goldfish, Quakers and Stonyfield, who produce yogurt and milk. Companies have also begun to get new farmers to increase production.
