Yellowjackets Color Guard takes a trip to UCLA

Priscilla Gonzalez, Social Media Manager

A fun and exciting day that color guard experienced at UCLA on Saturday, October 6, 2018. A member from color guard, Rebecca tells us about her journey to Los Angeles to participate in the viewing of the color guard of UCLA. In Rebecca’s words she describe it as “an amazing experience to go to, very fascinating.”

To start off with, Rebecca wanted to tell us about why she decided to join color guard in the beginning. She said it’s because she had a lot of free time so she wanted to put her time to good worth. So by doing this, she joined and been dedicating her time to this after school activity. Her practices are from after school to about six or seven. Joining guard was one of her best decisions she made this year. She was able to see the other guards’ field show routine and how they perform. However going to UCLA for guard wasn’t the only reason why she wanted to go. UCLA has been one of her dream schools for college.

The amazing field trip that Rebecca went on was on October 6, 2018. Which was on a Saturday. That’s not the only thing that was going on that Saturday. The Homecoming dance was happening as well and for Rebecca it wasn’t no problem. She was fine with missing this dance. She knows that she will be attending dances her upcoming years but she wanted to experience UCLA this year for sure.

The best part for Rebecca was hearing the band’s music, seeing the guards perform. But also spending quality time with her own team. From one to ten, meaning one as the worst and ten as the best Rebecca describes it as a full ten. “It was a great day, full of surprises.” Rebecca really recommends joining color guard. “You just need to be dedicated to spending half your day at practice , two or three times a week.”
