On wednesdays CHS wears pink

Students at CHS  are wearing pink to show their support for breast cancer patients. October is breast cancer awareness month and is used as an opportunity to bring about awareness of the cancer and support for those affected.

Invasive breast cancer affects 1 in 8 American women during her lifetime, and non-invasive breast cancer has affected 61,000 women in 2016 so far.

Breast cancer is a malignant (dangerous) tumor developed from cells in the breast.  Approximately 40,450 women are expected to have a breast cancer related death. This is a widespread illness, and Colton High Students are putting forth the effort to bring awareness to the community around them.

Wearing pink today was a heart-warming experience for many students. Senior Isabel Gomez says, “I think it’s great that people wore pink for breast cancer because it’s a way for people to support the cause.”
