A group of Colton High School alumni have raised a little over $7,000 thus far in hopes that its students will bring it back to its glory days. The Beautification Project is not only designed to improve the school’s look, but to bring pride back into the campus. The project is starting with the entire campus being repainted in October, but clubs have the chance to suggest anything else our school lacks.
Plant Science teacher Charmae Zumfelde has been assigned to oversee the work in progress. She hopes these changes will encourage CHS students to take care of the school and make our campus look more welcoming, as well as “that these prideful actions continue on forever.”
Campus security guard Lisa Villa has become the ‘poster girl’ for Dr. Tom Rivera’s Beautification Project. This past summer, she came on her own time, with her own supplies, and cleaned up the campus. She takes a lot of pride in Colton High, and Colton itself, because it’s her Alma Mater as well as her hometown.
Principal Amanda Corridan is fully supportive of the beautification efforts here and is especially mindful of our crosstown competition. “Now that Grand Terrace High School is open we deserve to have a nice school too,” she says. She would like for every school club and organization to participate in making our school beautiful again.
According to Corridan, applications for different ideas will soon be posted on the school website, unless otherwise stated.
