Both students and teachers returning to campus this school year were greeted by the long-awaited completion of the new Math and Science building. The futuristic structure, looking like something out of a Science Fiction novel, adds a touch of class to Colton High, somewhat softening the blow of of the new high school in Grand Terrace opening up to rave reviews.
The buildings were under construction during the winter of the school year and were finished just before the new school year started. The construction of the new buildings was made possible by bond measures B and G. These bonds were made to make schools less crowed and to improve the safety of students. This is done by repairing, reconstructing, and building new schools with $102 million dollars in bonds at legal interest.
Colton students were welcomed to brand new buildings to go to and a new clean campus. The school can now hold more students than before. Also the students and teachers seem to be really enjoying the new buildings, especially the incoming freshmen. Geology teacher Dara Devicariis says,” I really like the new buildings–they have a lot of space to store things and they have a lot of cool new technology.”
The new buildings are focused on math and science and boast the latest in new educational gadgetry: new smart boards and new computers for every classroom. Now with the new addition to the Colton High campus student can enjoy learning and have a fun new school year.
