With an electrifying group of actors, directors, and equipment managers, the Drama Club looks forward to showing up and showing out during their upcoming plays this school year, showing all of CHS exactly what separates them and makes them worthy of their new found spotlight.
This past March, this group accomplished something that was just the beginning of showcasing the new direction they’re headed in.
Reviving themselves from a prolonged slump, on March 13th, the drama club held its first performance since the COVID epidemic in 2020. The success of “The Kings Rebellion,” co-written by students within the club, was essentially what motivated the group to yearn and aim for more this year.
The returning students, Alex Jones, Brianna Gil, Camila Hernandez, and Ja’len Terry, have a plan they’ve been aiming to execute together since last school year. However, incoming freshmen Clair Wallace and Reizon Rodriguez, and sophomore Melissa Walker plan to join in and share the excitement.
“I’ve always liked acting,” Clair shared. Whereas Reizon took a more heartfelt approach when asked why she decided to join.
“I’m following in my mothers footsteps. She used to be an actress.”
Although the students definitely play a vital role in executing upcoming plans, there is one person who holds the group together. Drama Club teacher Sarah Hantuli plans to steer her students in the right direction as she writes out her agenda for this upcoming year.
What you can expect from the Drama Club this year consists of a Halloween Maze on Halloween Day, a Winter play, and another play in Spring.
As the Drama Club gets their feet wet and raises the audiences expectations, the question is will they live up to them under the bright lights? The answer is, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
