For many students, applying for colleges can be a big intimidating obstacle that has got to be overcome. Students don’t want to have to open a letter that tells them “I’m sorry to inform you that you are not eligible,” or something of that sort.
When applying for college there is always a possibility that you might not get admitted into every single college. You have to make sure to have multiple options and not just have your eye set on only one school. Many times students focus on only one school and are determined that they will get accepted into there, you cannot always be sure that you will be admitted in.
You should also be realistic when applying to colleges: don’t lie to yourself and try and convince yourself you might just be able to get in with your very low GPA. It’s better to realize that you haven’t done great on your own instead of getting a big NO on the letter you get sent back. You should always have an open mind to the possibility of getting rejected.
Rejection is never good no matter in what form it comes, but throughout our lives we must learn to deal with rejection. If you apply to all the schools you want and get rejected for most of them then you should just realize that you can always just transfer out. Getting rejected doesn’t necessarily mean that you are never allowed in there. It is not something you should fret over because you can always have a second chance and maybe you will get accepted into a different school that you love and enjoy. The college experience is the same whether in your dream college or your second choice –who knows, you might actually end up realizing your dream school was not the right fit for you. Enjoy applying and be ready to get accepted or denied; no one is perfect, but hey, maybe for your dream school, you are! Don’t be afraid to get rejected–you don’t lose anything, right?
