On Friday November, 2nd there will be a contest held on campus called Dancing with the Stars, where students will be dancing with teachers and a few teachers will be playing the music that night. Teachers playing the music on Friday will be English Teacher (and Pepper Bough adviser) Dave Rainey playing the guitar, Biology teacher Dawud Aasiya-Bey playing the bass, student Angel Estrada playing the drums, and English teacher Lucy Leyva who will be singing! The songs they will be playing are Broken Hearted (Karmin), La Bamba (Ritchie Valens), What I Like About You (The Romantics), Roadhouse Blues (The Doors) and Pride and Joy (Stevie Ray Vaughan).
This contest, Dancing with the Stars, was established as a fun activity to help the students bond with teachers. At this contest the students will be able to see teachers in a different perspective. Tickets will be sold at the door for 7$ and pre-sale will be 5$, it will be a fun and different experience so be sure to buy your tickets!

Are you nervous about the performance?
-I’m not nervous about the performance– just nervous because I have never played with the musicians I will be playing with.
What do you expect from this activity?
-The experience of playing with the teachers and to have a good time.
How do you feel about being chosen for this event>
-I feel good about it, it’s cool that teachers can get together outside of the professional environment.
How many years have you been playing bass?
-For 20 years
Are you comfortable with the songs you will be playing?
-I had never played them or heard Karmin, but I can learn them quickly with the amazing technology I can just pull them up online to listen to the song.
Do you already know the songs?
-Yes I do.
Do you play bass outside of school?
-I used to play for church not anymore I’m too busy ,but once in a while I get called to perform for concerts at church.
