Every nine seconds a woman is physically abused. Domestic violence is so common that our society has even named an article of clothing after it: the so-called “wifebeater” undershirt. That is really sad.
The cause for abuse is frequently the need for a partner to control, or even overpower, the other. There are also couples who beat one another and find it okay because it’s not just one doing it to the other–it’s both. Neither one is okay; they are both equally unacceptable. Abusive relationships affect mostly females, young and old alike.
There are many forms of abuse–it’s not just physical. People may only see the scars and bruising, but there is a lot more left behind for the woman getting abused. They only hide what they feel because they are usually too afraid to accept there is a serious problem and won’t prosecute their abuser.
The abuser always has an excuse. It can be that they were angry, under the influence of a drug or alcohol, and/or stress. They also try to blame the woman for not doing something correctly so they have to beat some sense into them. In reality there is no excuse for anyone in the world to get abused. Men should know that they can easily overpower a woman because of the difference in body strength is great. Aman should be the bigger person and solve the problem in a respectful manner. Women should know that a real man will never lay their hands on a woman and will do anything in his power to respect them.
*If you are ever abused in any way, shape, or form, please report it and get help. There are plenty of clinics, centers, and hotlines for you to contact such as Planned Parenthood, 1-800-799-SAFE, and of course 911.
