This upcoming summer, McDonald’s is planning to unveil its biggest restaurant ever for a limited six weeks during the 2012 Olympics games being held in London. It is expected to hold a staggering 1,500 seats.
McDonald’s first began its commitment with the Olympics in 1968, when the company actually airlifted hamburgers to United States athletes competing in Grenoble, France. The bureau became an official sponsor at the 1976 Olympic Games that were held in Montreal, as well as in 1984, when McDonald’s beared the expense for all in the Olympic swimming stadium in Los Angeles.
The London Olympics will be the ninth games where McDonald’s has acted as the event’s official restaurant and is reported to be the only restaurant feeding the athletes.
This Mega Mickey D’s is proposing that they will sell about 50,000 Big Macs, receive 180,000 orders of French fries and 30,000 milkshakes during these six weeks beginning in July. The establishment is 3,000 square meters long and about half the length of a football field. It’ll be staffed by over 2,000 people.
