Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Aug. 18
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
Almost 100 years ago in November 1922, something new was brewing at Colton Union High School. Eight gentlemen who wanted to show their singing talents to the world formed a club that would go on to be named “The Butler Club.”
They were not butlers, but rather they named the group after the director Mrs. Butler as a sweet honor.
The double quartet held their first gig on February 15, 1923 at the Lincoln Auditorium. Afterwards, they continued to perform across the city of Colton, at various public areas. With their sick singing skills, in addition to awesome piano playing courtesy of Mrs. Butler, these eight students provided much to see and so much to hear for years to come.
Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
