In 1952, basketball head coach Tom Morrow and his varsity team won the Citrus Belt League title. To get the title, varsity won a double overtime game versus Pomona, then another against Riverside Poly. In the Poly game, Colton trailed by 11 with only five minutes to play, but they put together a run to take the title.

At the game vs. Pomona, Carmelina De Loura was announced as the 1952 varsity basketball queen. Her court included Roy Cook, Wayne Jackson, Tex Drummond, and Ray Paschke. Cook, team captain, placed the crown atop De Loura’s head.
