Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Mar. 4
The Jog-A-Thon was a fundraiser event for sports and organizations at CHS. Here, senior Doug Elsmore runs around the track to raise money for the Cross-Country team.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
On November 3, 1981, ASB sponsored the second annual Jog-A-Thon. People who participated were allowed one hour to run, jog, or walk the 400 yard track as many times as they could to earn money for any school sport, club, or organization. Money was earned through people who were happy to fund money for each lap a person ran.
Math instructor and cross-country coach Frank Miller completed the most laps with a count of 37 laps in total.
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Like all of our organizations, we have needs, from site maintenance ($500 annually) to equipment (cameras, microphones, video cameras) to spirit gear (t-shirts, press passes). Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.
