Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Feb. 25
The 1983 Field Hockey team on the field versus Marina High School.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
In 1983, the Colton High School varsity and junior varsity field hockey teams had a combined four sets of sisters playing together.
The sisters were Cynthia (12) and Linda Lopez (11), Jackie (11) and Zorina (11) Flores, Tammi (11) and Terri (11) Kenny, and Toni (11) and Dolly (9) Jimenez.
Tammi and Terri were the only sisters who were identical twins—one played JV and the other played varsity.
While there were natural differences between sisters, they supported one another. Toni Jimenez said, “I gave [Dolly] a lot of support knowing that she and I would do the best of our ability.” Dolly added, “When I tried out for hockey, Toni helped me a lot.”
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Like all of our organizations, we have needs, from site maintenance ($500 annually) to equipment (cameras, microphones, video cameras) to spirit gear (t-shirts, press passes). Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.

Joseline Ortega Delgado is a student at Colton High School. She doesn't talk much. When you run into her, expect her not to hear you over the music playing...
