Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Dec. 1
The 1979 Crimson & Gold is dedicated to former groundskeep E. Fayne “Mickey” Young.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
The 1979 Crimson and Gold is dedicated to groundsman E. Fayne Young.
Young, better known around campus as “Mickey,” was in charge of all the athletic fields. He chalked the lines on all the fields for sporting events, trimmed the baseball field, reseeded the football field in Memorial Stadium, and prepared the track for meets.
“Mickey is the most dedicated and hard working individual at Colton High School,” said former coach Harry Muñoz.
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Like all of our organizations, we have needs, from site maintenance ($500 annually) to equipment (cameras, microphones, video cameras) to spirit gear (t-shirts, press passes). Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.
