Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Nov. 29
CHS students gather at the Arbor Day tree planting ceremony in 1952 to honor Mr. Edward J. Carrey, beloved CHS teacher.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
In 1952, Colton High School honored instructor Edward J. Carrey during an Arbor Day memorial tree planting ceremony.
Edward J. Carrey was remembered for his sense of humor, his passion to make class exciting, his sportsmanship, his enthusiasm, and his interest in baseball and champion horses.
He was often referred to as “Uncle Eddie” on campus by students. During his memorial, he was respected for being a family man, Navy man, coach, teacher, and a friend.
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.
