Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Nov. 14

Ms. Ina-Marie McCortney wore many hats as she served at CHS for 40 years, from 1945-1985. For many, though, she was an exceptional School Psychologist.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
Today’s fact of the day honors Ms. Ina-Marie McCortney. She was a Co-Coordinator of Counselors, School Psychologist, Girl’s P.E teacher, and Attendance Supervisor that worked at CHS from 1945 to 1985. Before CHS, she attended the University of Redlands.
As the one in charge of all absentees during the year, McCortney consulted with students and parents everyday, fixing absences and encouraging consistent attendance. Being the School Psychologist made her anxious to help and use her experience towards a more efficient attendance program overall.
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Like all of our organizations, we have needs, from site maintenance ($500 annually) to equipment (cameras, microphones, video cameras) to spirit gear (t-shirts, press passes). Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.
