Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Nov. 13

Dr. C. Weynard Bailey (left) served as CHS Principal from 1960-1962 before becoming CJUSD superintendent. In this photo, he is joking around with Dr. Paul J. Rogers and Judge Elmer W. Heald during the dedication of Paul J. Rogers elementary school in 1967.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
Today’s Fact of the Day goes out to Dr. C. Weynard Bailey. He helped Colton High students with petitions for the senior fountain, and coordinated faculty-administration-pupil relationships, also known as fair governance.
He was the district Superintendent at the time Bloomington High School first opened its doors, causing students to transfer. Along with the Director of Curriculum, Mrs. Blossom George; ASB council advisor and Vice-President of activities, Charles Jordan; Vice Principals, Mrs. Martha Herrington, and Mr. Herman Price, Dr. Bailey ensured a smooth transition.
Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
