Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Nov. 5
Mr Eugene Owen taught civics and life planning at Colton High School from 1959 until his retirement in 1984.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
Mr. Eugene Owen retired in 1984 after 29 years of teaching at Colton High School. His involvement with CHS activities made him one of the school’s more colorful and memorable teachers.
He always had school spirit, even wearing costumes during the holidays.
For his retirement, Owen said he would like to move into a library so he could read all the books he ever wanted. He also planned to restore thirteen antique automobiles, and raise horses on his ranch.
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Like all of our organizations, we have needs, from site maintenance ($500 annually) to equipment (cameras, microphones, video cameras) to spirit gear (t-shirts, press passes). Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.
