Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Oct. 23
At the 1991 Homecoming Game, senior Rosa Salazar was crowned Homecoming Queen.
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
Homecoming was a colorful experience in 1991, as the Yellowjackets celebrated with a “Mardi Gras” theme. According to that year’s “Crimson & Gold,” “things got really wild.”
The senior class’ dragon float took top honors that year at the Homecoming Parade, inspiring community members as it stalked down the parade route.
Unfortunately, the Yellowjackets lost their homecoming matchup against Pacific. Melissa Magnet, class of 1994, said “The game was very exciting. Although we lost, I had a great time.”
Rosa Salazar was crowned Homecoming Queen that night at halftime.
