Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Oct. 7
Lunchtime at Colton High in 1950 involved spreading out on the school’s sprawling lawn . . . for seniors only!
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
In the late 1940s and 1950s, only the seniors could eat on the front lawns of Colton High School. No other grades were allowed; if intruding underclassmen trespassed onto the lawns, the lunching seniors could issue demerits that required the offending students to stay after school doing school work or assisting teachers.
The CHS Publications department is dedicated to covering all things Colton High. Like all of our organizations, we have needs, from site maintenance ($500 annually) to equipment (cameras, microphones, video cameras) to spirit gear (t-shirts, press passes). Please consider donating. Every little bit helps support good journalism in Colton.

Joseline Ortega Delgado is a student at Colton High School. She doesn't talk much. When you run into her, expect her not to hear you over the music playing...
